The Deal...
High school student Jinny is a super-enthusiastic artist and photographer. She spends much of her time with best friend (and lover?) Jas, photographing Hong Kong scenery; flowers, trees, and wildlife. Until, that is, Jinny witnesses a fatal car accident on her way home from school. Rather than simply run or watch, Jinny feels compelled to take a photograph of the dead woman. Later, in her basement dark room, she develops her film and believes she has finally taken the perfect photograph. From here, she discovers an unhealthy obsession with seeking out the dead and dying to photograph the moment of death. In order to overcome this obsession, Jinny must staunch her violent compulsions by coming to terms with her traumatising past... and as if this weren't difficult enough, someone else has learned of her death-capturing hobby: a mysterious, hooded killer with the very same interest...

Did Rights:
As is custom with Hong Kong horror films, "Ab-normal Beauty" attempts to adopt a spooky twist ending. However, where most others fail, this movie is successful. There are a few dimly compelling scenes, and the acting isn't horrible.

Did Wrongs:
The plot is choppy and disjointed. This movie was available for download in three parts and, not noticing the third part, I downloaded only the first two. I proceeded to watch both of them and at the end of the second part, I actually thought the movie was over. Rather than possessing a smooth-running story, this film almost has two separate plots that just coincidentally happen one after the other: when the first ordeal ends, the second begins.
Confusion aside, this entire film is spent expecting a lesbian kiss that never happens.... and then, in my post-viewing readings, I found out that the girls playing the roles of Jinny and Jas are actually fraternal twin sisters. AWKWARD....
